552 Animoto

This week for EDUC 552, I had the opportunity to explore Animoto. This was my first experience with Animoto and I was pleased with the simplicity and organization of the website. I will continue to utilize Animoto in the future as it is a beneficial tool for creating visuals and graphics. As a way to engage and motivate students, I could use Animoto to create short videos of learning content in each subject area. I could also help students create clips to share with parents about what happens in our learning environment. Overall, this technology tool is effective and something that I will incorporate more into education.

552 Artifact- EdPuzzle

I created this artifact using Edpuzzle. To be honest, I created my account, and I almost decided to not follow through with using it because I was not sure how to use it right away. I often find myself getting scared with new technology tools if I cannot figure out how to use them as soon as I log in. However, today I decided to face the challenge and I am so glad I did because it ended up being a beneficial tool that I will continue to use in education.  Edpuzzle could be used in the classroom in a variety of ways. After figuring out how to find YouTube videos, I found that you can add questions and comments throughout videos to keep students listening and engaged. You can also use videos that have already been created through the "Edpuzzle Community," which is great to avoid recreating the wheel. Another feature is the Popular Channels link. Some popular channels include Khan Academy, TED Talks, and  National Geographic. If you have your own videos that you have created, yo...

552 Article Review

Summary: Within the article, “Elementary Prospective Teachers’ Experiences Regarding Digital Storytelling”, prospective teachers used digital stories for the elementary curriculum to identify teacher views and experiences regarding digital storytelling. In the findings, they found that prospective teachers had positive views about digital storytelling. “The participants stressed that digital storytelling makes students active in the lessons, attracts their relevancy, increases their motivation, and attracts their attention. In addition, prospective teachers stated that digital storytelling makes the lesson enjoyable and ensures that the lesson is fun, effective, and efficient” (Asian & Kazu, 2021). The teachers stated that they would use digital storytelling in mostly life studies and Turkish lessons, but could use it in every subject area. They found that using digital storytelling for life sciences helps to be more relatable and easily connects to everyday life. In the stud...

Introduction

Welcome to my blog! I am currently a first-grade teacher at Holdrege Elementary in Holdrege, NE. I graduated from Peru State College in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and I am currently working on my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  Technology has always been an interest of mine and I was raised around various Apple products. Therefore, I am more of a Mac person than a PC. However, I use Chromebooks in my current classroom and have gotten accustomed to using other devices since teaching. I have started using Office 365 online to access Outlook and Microsoft programs through PSC, but I personally prefer using Google applications. I appreciate that the databases allow me to access my documents anywhere and on any device.  In my classroom, I use my projector, ELMO, and computer on a daily basis. I use my computer to access curriculum materials and project them for students to see clearly. For example, I use Wonders for Reading and t...
