EDUC 552 Reflection

EDUC 552 has been a very enjoyable course. I feel like the projects and learning opportunities provided in this class has helped me grow as an educator and a learner. I learned about the importance of technology tools, professional development, and ways of connecting with educators around the world. I believe I reached all ISTE standards as I took an active role in utilizing technology throughout this course and it's projects. I understand Digital Citizenship and I also teach about the rights and responsbilities of using technology to my students. I am able to use various resources to provide meaningful and effective learning experiences. I am able to design and create new, useful, imaginative solutions though several processes. Most of all, I believe I can clearly communicate and express myself by using a wide variety of technology tools. I will continue to strive for self-growth in meeting ISTE Standards, while teaching my students about them. The most useful tools I used during...

Curriculum Video- EDUC 552

For this weeks assignment I made a video over comparing two-digit numbers using the greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. I used iMovie, Photo Booth, Jamboard, camera, and Screencastify to create the components included in the video. This applied to Nebraska State Standard: MA 1.1.1.f Compare two two-digit numbers by using symbols and justify the comparison based on the number of tens and ones. Overall, I gained knowledge on adding various elements together to produce a short video. This insight will be beneficial as I utilize video making applications in the future for educational purposes.

Screencastify

For Week 3 of EDUC 552, I had the opportunity to explore Screencastify. Screencastify is an effective, simple way to share your computer screen while adding voice and text features. This will be a powerful tool to use with my students as they are learning how to navigate the internet. I will now be able to share directions with a video that they can watch as many times as they need to while rewinding, pausing, and stopping. This particular Screencastify video that I created explains how to use a rainbow template on Jamboard. This will be a great new learning experience for students.

Control Alt Achieve Blog Response

I looked into the blog, Control Alt Achieve from Eric Curts. Most of the blog posts I found revolved around Google and its features, which is beneficial because my students have Google Chromebooks. I read the following post specifically about Jamboard because it looked like something that would interest my young students. In this blog post, Curts explains how to create a rainbow background so students can draw on it as if they were using rainbow paper. I plan to use this Jamboard tip for students to practice their spelling words and for expressing creativity. If I created a blog for student use, it would have to be very simple as I teach first grade. On my blog, I could share links and videos on how to use the internet and over the content that I was teaching. I could also use it as a way to communicate with families, much like a newsletter. Blogging is a great way to reflect and share ideas with readers. The Control Alt Achieve blog was essential for learning about Google.  https:...
