EDUC 552 has been a very enjoyable course. I feel like the projects and learning opportunities provided in this class has helped me grow as an educator and a learner. I learned about the importance of technology tools, professional development, and ways of connecting with educators around the world.
I believe I reached all ISTE standards as I took an active role in utilizing technology throughout this course and it's projects. I understand Digital Citizenship and I also teach about the rights and responsbilities of using technology to my students. I am able to use various resources to provide meaningful and effective learning experiences. I am able to design and create new, useful, imaginative solutions though several processes. Most of all, I believe I can clearly communicate and express myself by using a wide variety of technology tools. I will continue to strive for self-growth in meeting ISTE Standards, while teaching my students about them.
The most useful tools I used during this course were iMovie, Twitter, and Screencastify. iMovie was simple to utilize and to add many components to, such as video clips, images, voiceovers, and music. I also enjoyed using Twitter to share what was happening in my own classroom and to communicate with other educators. Screencastify was a great learning experience as I could easily share my screen and add my voice to it. Screencasting will help students to be more independent as they can watch my instructions repeatedly, pause, stop, and replay as many times as they need.
I plan to continue to utilize multimedia tools in my classroom as a way to provide opportunities for student-centered learning, teaching students how to use them, and for personal growth. I believe these tools can benefit students in many ways as several students learn best from visuals and audio. I also think that teaching and learning can be effective when utilizing technology tools because it can be used anywhere and at anytime. Students are motivated when they enjoy learning and through the use of technology tools, this can be achieved.
